Characters Made for Final Year
A set of different characters and creatures made for assignments in my final year of university. This includes Becky the bordercollie, Baron (Cat Returns x Genshin Impact) and Pollyanna the parasaurolophus, with Lynn, her human rider.
In this project, I learned how to use XGen, and created my first groom with it, then brought it into unreal and bound it to an animated mesh, for a realtime character.
Due to technical problems it wasn't possible to get the fur the correct colour in Unreal in time (still going to keep trying though 😉) so the renders here were made in Blender.
This project was inspired by the relationship between dinosaur and rider in Ark: Survival Evolved, however attempting a more realistic art style. The barding made was primarily based on horse barding, however with adjustments based on the dinosaur's anatomy.
Lynn works diligently at her family's orchard, collecting fruit, pruning and mainting the health of the trees.
Pollyanna is her trusty parasaurolophus, who serves as a companion, mount, and draught animal, though can be difficult to handle at times, due to her skittish personality.
I designed the concepts and made the finished 3D character, which was presented in the Unreal Engine.
Created almost entirely in Blender, supplemented by Artflow for concepting and texturing at times when unable to access a computer.
