Odyssey

Odyssey, our project developed during a 20-week period in our senior year at SCAD 2023, addresses the common issue of individuals struggling to choose the right academic path. The lack of clarity often leads to high dropout rates and individuals feeling uncertain about their career choices. As someone who started in industrial design but later shifted to UX design after realizing it wasn't my true passion, I understand the challenges associated with career transitions, including stress and uncertainty.

With these insights in mind, my team and I focused our efforts on creating a solution. Enter Odyssey, a concept project aimed at empowering high schoolers to explore a wide range of fields. By assessing their personality, skills, and passions, Odyssey helps students discover the fields that resonate most with them. By offering a comprehensive evaluation process, we aim to provide valuable guidance to individuals seeking the right career path, enabling them to make informed decisions and pursue fulfilling futures.

Our concept project consists of the following steps: After a student decides to enroll in our program, they embark on an engaging and interactive learning journey. The curriculum is designed to expose students to a wide array of fields and industries through immersive experiences, workshops, and mentorship opportunities. We leverage technology to provide virtual simulations, real-world case studies, and hands-on projects, allowing students to gain practical knowledge and insights.

Throughout the program, personalized assessments are conducted to evaluate each student's personality traits, skills, and passions. This data is then matched with information on various career paths, providing tailored recommendations based on their unique profile. We believe in the power of self-discovery, and therefore encourage students to explore different fields, shadow professionals, and participate in internships to gain firsthand experience.

Upon enrollment in our class, Odyssey offers students a comprehensive welcome kit, encompassing a wide range of activities, books, and gadgets tailored to their expressed interests within the respective fields.

Following enrollment in our class, students gain the opportunity to delve into diverse fields of personal interest, enabling them to initiate the development and refinement of relevant skills. Our platform is dedicated to facilitating an intuitive and enjoyable exploratory experience. We offer a multitude of resources to support our students, including access to school advisors, vibrant communities, and a host of additional benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities

Miguel Name: Assumed a multifaceted role encompassing user research, wireframing, prototyping, and the creation of visually captivating videos. Additionally, took charge of developing all 3D renders to enhance the overall visual experience.

Rayoun Choi: Spearheaded the development of packaging design, encompassing its distinctive features and accompanying gadgets.

Annie Ju: Undertook user research and wireframing activities while also overseeing the printing process for packaging design.

Maggie Shiau: Conducted user research and wireframing tasks, additionally managing the printing phase for packaging design.

Erfan Khaki: Made substantial contributions to user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design endeavors.
