I have just finished my second year studying computer animation at the University of South Wales. Here is a collection of my favourite work so far. I hope you enjoy looking through.

MARTIAL ARTS PERFORMANCE PIECE

The showreel begins with a martial arts performance piece. I wanted to create this in order to study how the human body moves, whilst also considering the principles of animation such as anticipation and squash and stretch. Above you are able to see a breakdown of the piece, including the reference video I followed as well as the development of the piece from the initial block out.

WASP VFX PROJECT

I have also experimented with implementing rigs into live action backplates. I modelled, rigged and skinned this wasp model. Followed by filming a shot and using Nuke to track it and then animating this model onto it. I have included the animation as well as a breakdown showing the process in the final showreel.

GAME CHARACTER PROJECT

Here we were tasked with taking an existing 2D character and turning them into a playable 3D game character in Unreal Engine. I used this adorable demon design that I found on Behance and above you can see some of my concept work studying the character and its movement.

FOX PROJECT

More creature work can be seen here with a fox that I modelled and textured myself. I then explored the animals movement by animating a walk cycle and a trait.

STUDENT FILM - CRITTER CAPER

These farm shots are my contribution to a student film that I animated on. The film followed the narrative of a bunch of crafty farm animals trying to steal a crate of apples from their farmer. It was an enjoyable process, learning to work as a team and create something together.

PRISONER DUAL DIALOGUE PIECE

Finally, finishing off the showreel is my first attempt at a dual dialogue piece, using an audio clip from Orange is the New Black. Above you can see a breakdown of the piece, showing the development  from the first block out. I tried to focus in on more subtle body language to match the curious and mysterious energy exhibited in the audio.
