Hi there! I'm Melisa Lorenzi. I have a degree in audiovisual design, but I wanted to take my studies to the next level. As I have always been interested in how visual effects are made, finding amazing the possibility of creating them on a computer, I decided to enroll in a VFX course and start my journey in this world! Here I present to all of you my last project studying VFX at Lightbox Academy. 

For this project, I wanted to challenge myself and combine two simulations at the same time: FLIP fluid and RBD. I also made a POP simulation, a PYRO simulation and a crack animation.

Now it's time for the breakdown!

Additionally, I would like to share one of my favorite projects I've done in this course. I really like this piece because I got inspired by my childhood. I used to watch Disney's film "The Black Cauldron"  and as soon as I received the task,  I pictured the scene. Hope you enjoy it!

The smoke and the fire are inspired by "The Black Cauldron" film but for the room itself, I took inspiration from "The Sword in the Stone" film. Yes, another film from Disney. I'm very proud of being able to put in images of what was in my mind. 

Here is the breakdown!

I've created PYRO simulations for the smoke and the fire, and I've done a POP simulation to add some sparks. This way, the fire looks a little more realistic. I chose green for the smoke and a night-time environment to generate a magic atmosphere. In addition to these, I made a post edition in After Effects to obtain the last result.

Last but not least, I would like to share my demo reel that shows all my projects created during this course. I'm really looking forward to continue learning and keep challenging myself with new projects and techniques. I hope one day to be part of a team and create amazing stories.
