Hey ! I'm Elisa Binz, an Environment Artist studying at Artside since 2021, and I am currently in my second general year ! After discovering 3D a few years back, I quickly became passionate about it and realized that the environments were the part I loved the most !

Round of applause for our sponsors

Hey there !

Welcome to my 3D Environment Art Showcase ! You can find here a selection of my projects done during my second year at Artside (excluding the Portable Light). I had fun doing all of these, so I hope you like it !

Portable Light - Star Citizen fanart

For the 2nd big project of my first year at Artside, we had to model and texture a portable light from Star Citizen in 2 months, based on the model made by Kyle Bromley
Also, after a few months without doing realistic textures, I really understood how the Mask Editor in Substance Painter works, and had fun trying all this ! I also had the chance to use floaters for the first time, which were really useful and convenient for this prop ! Both of the baking and render were done on Marmoset.
Thanks to Camille Delmeule, Florian Devos and my classmates for their feedbacks !

Violin

Here is one of my projects done at Artside during my second year. The aim was to use the full workflow from modeling to texturing in one week, using Blender, ZBrush, Marmoset and Substance Painter !
Big thanks to Matthieu Laude for his help and feedbacks ! I wanted to try textures similar as in Valorant, PBR with a mix of handpaint and procedural texture ! Based on the concept of Veerle Zandstra.

Smithy

Here are the final renders of a 3 months project at Artside, done during my second year ! The objective was to do the full modeling with basic materials, based on the concept made by JIE.L., "Smithy".
I really learned a lot, I tried some modeling techniques in order to find the shapes and now i know which ones i prefer ! As you can see on the first render, I tried some handpainted textures on the floor, using 3DCoat. I can't wait to use that software more ! The modeling was done in Blender and I used ZBrush to sculpt the cloth !
Big thanks to Florian Devos, Camille Delmeule and my classmates for their feedbacks on that project !

Archeologist's Room

A few weeks back at Artside, we had a 3D Environment Class during which we had to model a part of the concept "Archeologist's Room" by Vadim Zaitsev.
We had two weeks to go through the whole process : modeling, sculpting, retopology, UV Unwrapping, texturing (a mix of Handpaint & Procedural PBR) and rendering ! Those two weeks were intense but it was really nice to produce a piece like this in a limited time ! After the class, I decided to retake some textures and the lighting, so here it is !
Big thanks to Matthieu Laude for his feedbacks, but also Sacha Veyrier and my classmates !
Blocking, retopology and UVs done on Blender, sculpt on ZBrush, texturing on Substance Painter and finally the baking and the main render were done on Marmoset.

2 week Side Projects

All of the following pieces are 2-week side projects at Artside, in order to train different artistic directions and different parts of the 3D environment creating process.

Mossy Log

The log is based on a work made by Smolievskaia Ekaterina, and the objective was to work the sculpt of both stylized wood and moss, but also little mushrooms to add life to the prop !
The sculpt and the first render were done on ZBrush, and the second render on Marmoset with post-processing in Photoshop !

Wooden Door

This piece is based on the work of Yannick Gombart for "Deathloop". With only basic modeling and without the use of ZBrush, I've been able to do something that I like, using only Blender, Substance Painter and Marmoset ! It was a real challenge, but fun to do !

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my entry, i hope you liked it ! I still have a lot to learn and I can't wait to do more Environment Art, during personal or school projects !
