DEJA-VU
3D Animation Shortfilm - Final project of 3D Animation students at U-TAD
Deja-vu is a short film made in our last 2 years of the 3D Animation degree at U-TAD. This short film tells the story of Knox. A man who lives a life controlled by technology. His glasses make him enter an alternate reality which has become his obsession and he will do anything to return to that false world.
Deja-vu is a project that has had a continuous evolution. We have worked on every area of the short film. From the script, storyboard and concept art to the modeling, texturing, animation, lighting and more. We developed characters and environments that evolved with time and that were created with a lot of thought.
KNOX - THE CHARACTER
MEMORIES - PROP
APARTMENT - ENVIROMENT
STREET - ENVIROMENT
EXPERIMENTAL TEXTURING
We used two techniques for the textures. A more traditional one for the "real world" scenes and a more cartoony one for the "dream" scenes.
We took this decision to clearly divide and set aside one world form another.
Deja-vu is our first step into the animation industry. With this short film we have developed a strong understanding of each department involved in creating a 3D animated film. We assigned leads for each department, so everyone could specialize in their desired area.
