Heyo, my name is Hugo Colauto, a 3D generalist with a specialization in sculpting props and characters. I am in my last year of my Bachelor at Digital Arts and Entertainment in Belgium and currently doing my internship at Studio Gobo in the UK as 3D artist. These are some of my works through out college(2020 - 2024).

RTX-07 - Solar Shock

I want to proudly present my hardsurface skills with this realtime piece. I gave a little stylized twist in the textures. This is modelled in Fusion and Zbrush and based on the awesome concept of Dipo Muh : Solar Shock 

The Cyborg engineer || Real Time Character

With this character I wanted to show a mix between hardsurface and soft surface sculpting. I loved sculpting the cyborg and giving more stylized features to the character. The wonderful concept it is based on is by Pierre Santamaria

The Stylized Manor

Based on the Original concept art by : Yvan Jeanmonod This one was fun to make!  I wanted to make something very stylized and try to make the style my own. With a comic book- sticker kind of vibe. It was quite a challenge with all the vibrant colors but i'm happy with the result. If you want to read about the making of you can do so here

Substance Designer

I made most of my textures in substance designer and created there a roof tile texture with a mask for moss that i can control in unreal engine 5. After that i polypainted the roof with non moss and moss roof tiles

Trim texture

Besides the Materials from substance designer i also made a trim texture in Zbrush and textured it in substance painter. With this i could easily make props very fast and efficient.

Vintage Drill || AEG Bohrmaschine SD2-420

The goal was to get as close to realism as possible while making a game ready assets and im very happy with the result. I  modelled this drill using fusion 360, maya and zbrush. It was my first time using Fusion 360 and it was a good start for it

Kestra- Color of light

This is sculpted after the gorgeous concept by Veronique - Celine Firsova. With the style i went more in the direction of a pixar / overwatch feeling since i adore that style. The animation in sketchfab is done in mixamo and edited a little in maya

Pig Bomber Diorama

With this i went full out on surface detail and design. I designed 5 props myself based of a character who dresses as a pig and is a demolition expert. There are other props i sculpted based on the concepts magnus knife by Becca Hallstedt and Swale eaters by Mariia Tverdohleb. Its rendered in zbrush and put together in photoshop

Trouble - Realtime portrait

Concept by Hardy Fowler. I modified the concept really hard and did my own twist on it. I tried to make the portrait dynamic by having the hair breeze in the wind

The Conquistador Lizard

This is a design of my own. I wanted to show a lot of layering and different materials. I loved designing this creature. I started with a Photobash and kept designing in Zbrush and photoshop. I asked loads of feedback to people around me if things were looking good which really helped get me in the right direction for this piece

Living room  - UE5 lighting excersise

This piece was focused on composition and lighting. Trying to get a nice vibe of a rainy sunny day and practicing environment/lighting art in unreal engine. It was quite a challenge but i'm happy where i got it. i sourced the majority of assets from megascans, quixel and sketchfab.

End product vs Reference

The Gauntlet || Fractured horizon 

This gauntlet is the main characters weapon to traverse levels in Fractured Horizon (a student game) that i was part of in making as character and prop artist. GET IT NOW ON STEAM!!!  The idea was that you could shoot these crystals to create blackholes. I also concepted the gauntlet

Moskvich 407 hover car

Fully modelled in maya. It was a great Highpoly excersise. If i were to own a car it would be this one.
