VANISH

Valentin is driving on an old deserted country road. Its dark, the fuel tank is nearly empty and the only place he seems to be able to stop is a mysterious gas station that appeared just when he needed it...

Synopsis

Valentin and his dog Sam is driving on a deserted country road. Valentin drives and receives text messages. He reads them. His tank is empty. He again receives several messages and burst into tears, it's too much. He presses the brake and stops in the middle of the road. He's curled up on his steering wheel and Sam is next to him. Valentin sits up and strokes the top of her head. Now in front of them on the road is a sign that seems to have come out of nowhere. Having no other choice, he decides to go to the gas station it indicates. Arrived at the mysterious gas station, Valentin and Sam search the place to find gasoline but the pumps doesn't  work. Then they go to the shop and Valentin glances inside through the door’s window. There is nobody. He tries to open the door which is oddly unlocked. They come in and they find everything you normally find at a gas station. Valentin goes to the checkouts. He finds there a bunch of keys, cell phones, wallets... He was inspecting the objects when Sam disappears squealing. He sets out to find her and shadows begin to appear behind him. He turns around, sees them and disappears too.

Vanish is a graduation short film about social pressure and need to escape it and turns that in an paranormal, mysterious and oppressive place.

CHARACTERS 

Valentin 

Right before the story takes place, Valentin left his family without any warning or message. Nothing. He left alone with his dog Sam. He is tired, exhausted even. He has dark rings under his eyes and is disheveled. He is a 21 yo loner with social anxiety.

SAM

Previously called Guts,  is a Beauceron shepherd like dog. Sam is loyal, calm and friendly and is with Valentin for many years.

Shadows

They doesn't specificaly haunt the gas station. In fact, they come from people like Valentin. They are born from their distress and suffering and now, they want to take them to places that don't really exist to engulf them.
