Seven Jewel, Character Concept

Character concept: Seven Jewel (dnd character)

Female anthropomorphic jaguar, slender build - triangle character, sorcerer, Arabian clothing influence, uses clothes to disguise appearance,

Well-spoken, educated, strong magic user, who appreciates good style & jewellery. Leader of her group, good charisma.

Uses a crystal ball & can read tarot cards/tell the future.

Stylised exaggerated proportions.

1st run-through of the character. While I liked the character overall, I felt I needed to go back to thumbnails. I wanted to work with more exaggerated proportions and focus on shape language. 

20 mini thumbnails, experimenting with triangular shapes. I picked 5 which I felt had the most potential, though I ended up taking small influences from more.

Worked up thumbnails & body shape. I liked where my thumbnails were going, and rendering them further helped me to find what i wanted for Seven - mainly a slender build with long legs and a wide-shouldered torso. I tried a handful of variations for her body proportions, trying out what made her feel most cat-like & potentially dangerous.

After thumbnails, I created 3 potential designs. I found that the previous shape exploration really helped with the expressiveness and personality of Seven, showing her in a striking pose. I then worked up a 'final' design from those three (mainly taken from the left most design).

I wanted to create concepts for the most important items Seven Jewel carries. I started with some basic black & white variations, before colouring & then finalising. 

Wanting to work on the design for her head, I used Z brush to make a quick 5 min sculpt to help me in getting her proportions consistent. 

As with her previous head design, I wanted to use her jaguar spots to convey her middle age (mid 40s) so used them as wrinkle lines around her eyes. I think this also helps to convey her slightly aloof personality.
