A mediterranean villa - Casa TER

The project

This project meant to recreate some images from an existing villa in L'Empordà (Girona, Spain) called 'Casa TER', by MESURA architects. I chose this villa for its delicate and mediterranean architecture, which felt very close to home; and because I thought it would be a challenge to try and replicate the rustic finish of the materials used in the project.

Materiality

The choices of form and materiality in the project are based on altering as little as possible its natural surroundings, and interpreting the local building culture of the area. 

The irregularity of the pieces and the texture, the brickwork and the arrangement in the interior vaults, seemed as an interesting challenge to work with.

Process

Like everything else in life, the process takes time and it is as interesting as the result itself.

Atmosphere

I have found that trying differents atmospheres in a project is one of the things I enjoy the most. A foggy, rainy day forces you to play with the mood of the image and to think about each material individually so as to create a realistic wet scenery with different masks, textures and reflections.
