I made up my mind to work in the creative field when I started secretly drawing in my textbooks. I've been learning concept art these years, hoping that I can work in the game & animation industry as a concept artist in the future. Here I'm really happy to share my work with all of you.

This year I kept trying something a little more cartoonish. Here to present my personal project called “The Mayan”, a set of Mayan characters designs inspired by my trips to Mexico. I also like to explore their personalities by adding a few fun stories for each one of them.

The Mayan Astronomer

The Mayan Noble

The Mayan Javelineer

Before I started my Mayan project, I did some portraits stylization practices.

Then more exploration on different body types and face expressions.

Here I used some basic Blender and ZBrush models (models are created by my school_CG Spectrum) to practice my design and 2D paint over skills in Photoshop.

The Oceaner

Axes Design: Bone, Ice and Lava

Then I started to build my own rough 3D models for my concept. This way helps me explore different lighting and compositions.

Alien Design

Inspired by sea shells, crabs and snails. I made a ZBrush model as my paint over base.

The Nest

I made a Blender rough model and use it as my reference.

Some anatomy and portrait exercises, focusing on how to quickly grasp the dynamics and main structures of the human body. Also experimented with different color styles and rendering techniques.

Here are some explorations of design logic and style, including but not limited to using reference photos, objects or key words as inspiration.

I did a lot of speed color studies this year, including landscapes, master pieces, and film screenshots. This kind of exercise has been very helpful in improving my color sensitivity as well as enriching my palette and brush library.

A special thank you to my family, mentors and friends who have helped and supported me through my art journey ^_^
