Characters and props modeling collection

Hadrien Clement
by Hadrienclement on 10 May 2023 for Rookie Awards 2023

Here is a collection of prop and character models that I have recently created. I have learned a great deal from each project, while also stepping out of my comfort zone to learn new things.

"ROBIN from Yokai High" original concept by Max Grecke

My first full character modeling !

It was a really great experience and took quite a while, I tried to find a workflow that suits me, whether it's inside zbrush, in maya or to texture everything substance. I've also done a full retopo for animating and rigging for practice.

This amazing concept is made by Max Grecke and was really fun to breakdown !

I've learnd a LOT on this project, on the anatomy, clothes modeling and stylisation.

Barman - Half character

All aspects - concept by Joe Madureira

This is a school project I've made at my third year at ESMA and it was really a tough one. I found this beautiful concept from Joe Madureira and had to sculpt it. It was a really complicated challenge to get the anatomy of the arm right since its one of my first character. It was also the first time I used Substance Painter for a big project and textured human skin. I learned and used the ACES Workflow for the occasion.

Overall a really fun project, a lot of debugging and problem solving to do but I managed to finish it !

Alan Turing's Desk

My final 3D project of my first year at ESMA Montpellier. This is an interpretation of Alan Turing's Desk in 1940.

Phrynarachne (Bird-dung spider) Lookdev

The first school project of my 2nd year of 3D animation at Esma Montpellier. It was really fun to sculpt and texture this Spider, hope you like the final result!

Time Machine #1 (Recreation from Meet the Robinsons)

This Time Machine is a recreation from the one in Meet The Robinsons. I did everything on this model: modeling, texturing, lighting, sampling, rigging the animation and the compositing. I've decided to recreate this machine during my spare time because it reminds me a lot of childhood memories and I am an absolute fan of the design and the look of the machine. It was very complicated to find good references since not a lot of artwork of the machine are out there. I ended up studying frames from the movie to get the right proportions and study volumes and textures.

Characters from "Tres Veridik"

I present to you the characters I made for our short movie "Tres Veridik" produced as a school project at ESMA. It was very rewarding to see my characters being rigged, animated and lighted by the rest of our brilliant team. Remember to check out their work!

I took care of the sculpting/modeling/texturing of the two characters (I started from a base made by other members of the team for the tall guy) and the texturing of most of the props of the set (like the voodoo doll at the end!)

The goal was speed and efficiency, by taking care of the two characters I learned a lot, especially what was expected of my models for the rigging. As the deadlines were very tight I couldn't push them as much as I would like but I'm proud of what the 6 of us produced in such a short time and from nothing!
