Hi everyone, for my entry I'm keeping a similar format of just using this as a showcase of everything I've made this academic year, I'm looking for work as a concept artist/illustrator from June this year :D Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Round of applause for our sponsors

NOTE: I want to add stuff to this entry as I go along so I will edit it, if that's not possible after publishing then I guess I'll just have to remake my entry and repost with newer content :P

Splash illustration done of my character Rochefort, designed as part of my final year project PIETY

below documents the process:

thumbnails -> refined sketch -> value rough -> lineart and 3d scene -> initial paintover

here are the models of the architecture used in this piece. The world's buildings are very inspired by brutalism with a bit of gothic church motifs.

At the bottom is the design and model made for Rochefort's signature battle axe arm

I'm adding to this post as I progress

2nd illustration - Sniffles the dog

[[   This piece is a work in progress so expect more information to be added as it progresses :D   ]]

for this piece I follow a similar process, but I tweaked it as I felt it would be better for the progression of this illustration:

thumbnails (with values this time) -> tweaked thumbnail -> lineart and values -> colour rough with 3d models and minor paintover

below are some 3d models made for the creation of this piece. I decided to draw out blueprints for the base of the tower in order to get the sizes of all the pieces correct to ensure the sense of scale stayed intact

Creature design - "Most Weasel"

I was spurred to make this creature design after watching a documentary on weasels, in which they stated that the least weasel had the most powerful bite in any animal in relation to their body size. I wanted to create a ‘most weasel’ to showcase how this apex predatory would work but with the twist of combining it with flora inspired by mimicry of environment as seen in the creatures on the right.

I imagined if it was big it would be very noticeable, so ambush hunting would be the best option. The flower of choice was the gloriosa flame lily because of it's unique shape (top right-most flower visible in references below)

myology study - to balance form and function with the design I decided to study the musclular system for this creature. My outcome was a blend of weasel, lion, snake, bear and seal anatomy

the hunting method becomes clearer with colours, I opted for them to be nocturnal to better ambush-hunt and also play with bioluminescence similar to the creatures of the deep sea's abyssopelagic zones. I needed to utilise the creature's incredible bite force so my idea was that it would hang upside down from thick tree branches and lure prey with it's glowing patterns and false petals, looking like a gloriosa flame lily. The prey would get too close and it would strike
