Update - 24 Nov 2022

I just realised how the Update system works X) I am really affraid of being discalified. I posted my work step by step but on the same update !

Anyway, it was fun to create this robot. Finally, there is a final render sized as it it asked in the rules section of the contest and a 3D model uploaded on sketchfab. Hope you will like it !

I think it is the achievement of this entry so thank to The Rookies and all their collaborators for making this contest possible. It was pretty fun to do and I learnt a lot from the substance softwares.

Update - 8 Nov 2022

As every project have to begin, there is a part of the moodboard I composed to create what will be my robot for this contest.

I've waited some days before trying to draw anything because I really wanted my idea to be clear in my mind and spontaneous in a certain way. I ended up with a little sketch (2D sketches or concept art in general isn't what I'm the most talented in) you can see down below.

Right after, I opened Zbrush and I tried to create a working Blockout in correlation with my sketch and It was pretty evident and easy for me.

I lost a lot of time on the head trying to find an artistic direction. I wanted something really smooth on the edges, almost floral in fact. As ducks live around water points, I took inspiration around the flora of French aquatic environments.

For the robotic aspect, I didn't scold that much screws because I want to do the maximum in Subtance painter. However, the pattern is reported on the major parts of the duck as aeration grids or floral curves ornaments.

Those last days I worked on the retopology on Houdini. I was pretty impressed when I baked my high poly model on my low one on substance painter because it was perfect on the first try!

Anyway, Textures are done so I let you those firsts rendering. The next step will be to give my duck at least a pose!!

I couldn't resist to animate it. I Don't know if I will have time to make some others but as you can see DU4K is now alive.

I lost a lot of time trying to find good compositions for the renders. I discovered Substance Stager and well, it is such a good tool for it! I found the software really Intuitive and after several tests I obtained those cool pictures !
