A design based on the idea of a father's hand-me-downs.

This piece was heavily influenced by early 20th-century men's fashion. I wanted to give the clothing an oversized look to replicate the feeling of disappearing in your father's large clothing as a child, while also fusing the many masculine shapes of the clothing with the feminine shapes of my model.

The pants are the greatest example of this, they're placed very high on the waist and very wide at the bottom of the legs to mimic the way a parent's larger trousers would fit. But they're closely tailored around the waist which is a traditional design of womenswear, which brings classic feminine shapes into the piece.

I knew from the start that I wanted a pair of long, wide, and very high-waisted trousers to be the main part of my work. After that, I decided on a tucked oversized classic white dress shirt to ground the silhouette, shape, and material of the pants, as well as to further highlight them as the star of this look. Adding the shirt also solidified the connection of the original inspiration of classic menswear.

By adding the square-shaped cropped coat I broke the triangle silhouette that was created by the wide pants and the shirt, to make it more interesting to the eye and bring harmony to the piece. But since I did not want to cover the shape created by tucking the shirts into the trousers I decided to have them hanging off the shoulder, which also gives a more confident and masculine impression to the outfit.

Thank you for your time!
