David Moral - 3D Character Artist
Hello everyone! This is my entry for The Rookies Awards 2022. In this entry I'll show you two pieces of a VR project I made for my master's degree. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating this content!
Human Mutant variety HSU-213
I created this mutant for a VR project I made at my master's dregree. It is optimized for VR using only one material ID in 2K resolution. I sculpted and painted it in Zbrush, retopologized it in Maya, made the UVs and skinning with 3DS Max and polished the texture in Substance Painter.
For this project I got inspired by the anime "Parasyte" and many mutant references I found on Artstation. I really enjoyed creating this creature, I felt kinda atracted to sculpt more creatures and I probably will in a close future. Hope you like it!

Sci-Fi Robotic Hand
This is a hand model for a VR game I made for my master's degree. I modeled it fully on Zbrush mostly with zmodeler, worked on the UVs and skinning on 3DS Max and finally baked and texturized it with Substance Painter. The model is optimized for VR, using only one 2K material for it, so I had to work very hard on the UVs.
I based the design of this hand on a hardsurface work I saw in Artstation by Rachel Frick, and after finishing a the base I began to test with emissives and different textures. I feel very satisfied with the final results of this piece.
And now here I leave some wireframe and different maps images
