Character created for the Mentorship-term Final project at Think Tank Training Centre. All aspects of this project Modeling/Texturing/Look-Dev have been done by me.
In this project, I was trying to learn the fundamentals in order to tell a story. I was well supervised by my mentor and all the faculty members present at the school, which was an amazing experience.
All the modeling was done in Maya as I collectively built the whole scene up together. I made sure all my UV were organized according to materials and took the time to match the density according to my cameras. The most challenging part was the ropes as I had to manually adjust the curves to get the look I was going for. I used Xgen for the rope strands.
Simulation and Posing
Initially, I started off with a base Mesh and used a basic rig system to get the weight and pose. After which I did refine it in Zbrush as I approached the sculpting stage. During this time I made sure to simulate my clothing in marvelous designer and made sure it was interacting with the background assets.
The majority of my time I spent sculpting the face as it was the most important element of the whole scene. I used a combination of XYZ maps provided by the school and some sculpting alphas.
I used a combination of both Mari and Painter to texture my assets. In some instances, I did create some custom material in Substance Designer.
All the hair was done in Xgen Core placing the guides manually and using modifiers. The lighting, look dev was done in Maya using V-Ray as my render engine.
This was a great learning experience for me as I am always grateful for the chances that I have been provided with. I'm very grateful for the support from my teacher Jon Catapia and the school.
Thank you for taking the time and hope you liked it.
