DUNGEON ENTRANCE

The Beginning of Your Inevitable Demise.

This was a project I did over the course of 8-9 weeks or so, as one of my final projects at school.

I hadn't gotten to work with more organic and 'rough' materials earlier so I wanted to do something in a medieval type setting, that has more rough metallics and rock textures and such rather than the cleaner and more accurate things i've done previously.

Another goal with this scene was to work more with the subtle (and not so much) narrative elements, to create crumbs of story for the viewer to latch on to and decipher or interpret.

WARHAMMER 40,000 RESEARCH FACILITY

"101101010010 1001010100101010 0101011000110" - Old Adeptus Mechanicus Proverb

This scene is based off of a piece of concept art created by Relic Entertainment (could not find the name of the original artist) for the video game Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine released back in 2011.

This scene was essentially further practice in creating modular game ready environments, but this time an entirely interior one. Which allowed me to play around a lot more with lighting in Unity. Quite tricky but I'm pretty happy with how it all came out in the end.

I regret not going even more high-poly with my meshes, but that's just something I'll keep in mind for the future. The far future.. Of the 41st millenium.

LEMAT GRAPESHOT REVOLVER

"When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk." - Tuco

I found this really cool and colorful revolver/shotgun combo illustration by accident on Artstation created by Fernando Correa. It got me in the mood to make a model out of it, but I ended up researching the gun and tried making a more realistic representation.

This was mostly a practice piece, working on getting better at hard surface modelling. But I think it came out pretty cool!

I also realised late into the process, seeing one of Ian's videos on the LeMat on Forgotten Weapons on Youtube, I was using reference pictures of different patterns and models of the LeMat so the gun is a little of a mix of the coolest pieces from each model I guess!

ADEPTUS ASTARTES DREADNOUGHT

Even in Death I Still Serve.

This Blood Angels Dreadnought from the grimdark sci-fi universe of Warhammer 40,000 is inspired and heavily based on a classic illustration by Richard Wright, first unveiled as cover art for issue #205 of the Warhammer hobby magazine White Dwarf.

Some artistic freedom was taken in the shapes of the mesh, It is sort of a mix of proportions from the actual miniature and the illustration, along with some beveled edges here and there to add some sort of stylized feel to it. Also refraining from too much battle damage to go along the lines of Bastion from Overwatch, just a few dents.

The banner design also created by Richard Wright and feautured in the original. I've simply vectorized and cleaned it up a little bit.

SISTER OF BATTLE (ADEPTA SORORITAS)

"Walk Softly and Carry a Big Gun." - Gabriel Angelos

This character is inspired/based on an illustration called Bloodrain by Marby KwongA Sister of Battle from the grimdark sci-fi universe of Warhammer 40,000. Took some artistic freedom in the design of the armour, for instance I felt the whole aspect of chest armour on female characters never made sense so I tried to make it slightly more "modern" while still keeping it feminine, yet sturdy in a sense.

I was trying to achieve a more stylized version of the character, sort of closer to an Overwatch style but not quite.
