This is a personal project with the purpose of improving my stylized work. I decided that I wanted to do something colorful and with a handpainted look! My biggest challenge and learning opportunity was having to create a custom shader that would resemble a dense jelly! While it was difficult, I had a lot of fun.
Here is an overview of all the textures I created for this project. Since I knew I wanted to work in Unreal Engine, I made the decision to pack my Roughness, Ambient Occlusion and Metallic into different channels in the same texture file. So that it would be efficient when setting up the materials. For my little leaf I only used a Base Color with an Alpha channel for the transparency.
I sculpted all of my high polys in zBrush and did the retopology in Maya.
I was very inspired by the charming and colorful work of Lina Tykwa!
