As long as I can remember I was interested in art and storytelling. My parents would send me to lessons on the weekend and workshops over the summer. I wrote a (probably terrible) book in high school, and a few short stories, too. It wasn't until after spending a decade in the military that I was truly able to pursue that goal officially.
