At the School of Arts, University of Worcester, our purpose, and ambition is focussed on nurturing your creative intelligence and practice, to help you find your own voice whilst preparing you for the world of work, whether within the Creative Industries (one of the largest sectors in the UK) or elsewhere, recognising your transferable skills and attributes that you will develop with us. Our philosophy is to treat you as student artists and practitioners from the moment you arrive, where you will work in studio environments to develop your ideas and practice. Over the three years, you will gradually move towards sharing your work with industry professionals through awards events, exhibitions or festivals and engaging with opportunities allied to the arts. We believe that education does not exist in a vacuum and the School of Arts is very well-connected and considers engagement with external agencies to be central to your success. BA Hons Game Art

Our Game Art course mixes high level creativity with cutting edge technology and supports you to find your passion within a broad-ranging subject. Our approach is based on authentic experience with strong industry links, giving you the opportunity to tackle live briefs, collaborative practice, and master industry standard software. You will graduate with the skills needed to pursue careers as character artists, environment artists, concept artists, or technical artists, among many other possibilities.

Our dedicated games studio hosts our teaching sessions and also allows you to come and work independently when it suits you, creating a vibrant, creative space for you to learn and enjoy being part of a community. The course is equipped with the latest industry-standard software and high-spec dual screen PCs, as well as Wacom Cintiq graphics tablets and VR Kit.

You will be supported by our award-winning teaching team to discover your specialism and take part in internationally recognised competitions such as The Rookies, graduating with a professional portfolio ready to take that next step into the industry.

BA Hons Animation and Game Art

Animation and Game Art are complimentary disciplines that combine creativity with cutting-edge technology and tools. On this exciting joint honours degree, you will have opportunities to develop your artistic abilities and enhance your work as you develop your practice based skills and technical abilities.

The course takes a practical approach with industry-standard equipment in dedicated studios. With the support of an award-winning teaching team and opportunities to gain real-world experience, you will graduate with a portfolio of work relevant to a range of creative professional fields. Specialist training in Animation tailors to individual aims through modules dedicated for the independent animator. Options from Game Art for the joint honours programme include Environment Art, UI Design, 3D Character Creation and Rigging and Motion Capture, with our own dedicated Motion Performance Centre on campus, but you have flexibility to build the programme that works to your individual interests, along with your animation course.

Masters in Creative Media

Our Creative Practice MA is open to professionals and graduates who aspire to meet the evolving demands of contemporary creative practice. You will gain strong theoretical and cultural contextual knowledge and will hone your conceptual thinking and innovation. This course will enhance your career prospects in the creative industries and enable you to become an effective and confident practitioner.

We have designed this exciting course such that you may participate in any area that represents your practice. You might be a designer, filmmaker, illustrator, painter, photographer, printmaker, animator or practicing in any other creative field. One of the distinct aspects of our programme is that you will be working and studying alongside graduates in a range of disciplines: this is an unusual, and very stimulating, inspiring factor of the course. You will benefit from contribution and support from student colleagues from diverse disciplines that will broaden your outlook and vision.

Graduates of the current programme have been successfully placed in studios specialising in design, video editing, film production and photography. Many are now pursuing freelance practice.
