Zalion Shadowmoon
Excited to show my first personal project for my portfolio. Also first time uploading in rookies. This is a character I designed myself to be played in a videogame.
Zalion Shadowmoon is an original character designed by myself. I will explain the whole Concept Art process as an independent project.
The model is intended to be a videogame character so I kept a low-poly count and retopologized it to be able to be rigged and animated in the future.
Here is the final concept I was working with when modeling the 3D model.
As the concept was done by me I was able to make changes during the modeling process. For example in the concept we can see Zalion is wearing shoes but after I worked more in his lore I decided he was more likely to go bare foot. I even sculpted them as you can see in this early stages screenshots from Zbrush.

Modeling process:
- Blocking with Maya (only the body).
- Sculpting in Zbrush till all proportions are final.
- Retopology mainly with Blender and Maya for some objects.
- Fine detail with Zbrush.
- Texturing with Substance Painter.
- Render with Marmoset and Arnold in Maya
