Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2 - 3D Model
Hello! As a big fan of the Half-Life franchise, I decided to create a realistic Model and Render of the Gravity Gun from the game. Here, I will provide a brief overview of the steps I took to make it happen.
❗What is this?
This is a 3D modeling of the gravity gun from the video game series Half-Life. I've always been a fan of this saga, and during my postgraduate course in VFX, I couldn't think of a better way to showcase it than by recreating one of the most iconic video game weapons.✏ Creation process...
To create this model, I utilized Autodesk Maya and followed the poly modelling process, beginning with blocking and gradually progressing to the High Poly version while keeping topology in mind. Next, I utilized ZBrush with a higher mesh density to sculpt details like the metal body imperfections of the Gravity Gun. Finally, I baked those details into textures using Substance Painter. I manually created some textures using Substance and utilized projection texturing for more intricate realistic objects such as the meter or the tape.
Once I finished texturing, I utilized the Arnold renderer within Maya to create a variety of materials and shaders that would enhance the overall presentation of the project.
