A horror game prototype for my game design elective course.

The torment is a horror game prototype that i made for my game design elective for my University. The player is supposed to find 5 keys that are spread around the maze that looks the same. The only way of navigation are scary statues in the rooms. 

There is a monster roaming around the maze looking for a player. 

The game has a heartbeat system. If the player gets scared by a jumpscare their heart baet increases, the monster senses it and they follow the player until  the heart beat calms down. In order to calm down, player has to stay still.

I created the map, coded all mechanics and used ready assets to create sound design. 

There are multiple chests on the map that make a disturbing sound. This lets the player find them more easily. The chest can contain either a key, or a jump scare that trigger the monster to follow the player.

The atmosphere of the game is supposed to be very heavy and blurry, so the player feels like they are in actual hellish nightmare.

The monster is still a capsule, but it doesn't make them any less scary. I successfully managed to achieve the element of horror with it.

When player manages to get all the 5 keys, they have to find the exit from the maze and win the game.
