Round of applause for our sponsors

I have wanted to work in the entertainment industry for as long as I can remember. Throughout grade school, my dream job was always changing: author, illustrator, director... But they all had one thing in common: entertainment. Towards the end of high school, it became more clear that the digital route was for me as I excelled in courses like graphic design and architecture. Furthermore, my time at college has only strengthened my desire to be a part of this industry.

An artist by nature, I grew up in the small town of Earlysville, Virginia. My father is an artist and exposed me to art from a very young age. He ingrained in me the value of art in many forms. Subconsciously influencing the direction of what would become my career. I have tried various other careers, from a security guard, metalsmith apprentice, machine operator, graphic designer, and electrical apprentice. In the end, my passion for video games and art would not be denied.

In my senior year of high school, I took a year-long CAD class learning the fundamentals of 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor. Learning just those small building blocks of the 3D world really opened my eyes to this whole industry as a career path. It wasn't until I started college that I really thought of this path as a real possibility for me, switching from computer science roughly a year into my studies to follow something that I thoroughly enjoyed doing.

When I was playing games heavily in high school I think is when I thought it would be really cool to make them as well.

Though I have always loved games I had only realized that I wanted to pursue a career in game development a few years ago. I was enrolled in college as a Physics major and just didn't have the motivation to keep doing that. So I desired I would take a intro to 3D modeling course that my school offered and I discovered that I loved it. A few weeks later I changed majors and started a minor in game design.
