Round of applause for our sponsors

I was always interested in the arts, but took a detour in high school to go for a field in the sciences instead. During this time I was in a two year science program that consisted of only academics and it was during this time that I realized how much I loved exploring my creative side and making works of art. I dropped all my science classes in grade 12 to work towards making a portfolio for Emily Carr University of Art & Design and was thankfully accepted.

I saw Dylan Cole's concept artwork for the movie Tron: Legacy and didn't think it was possible to do what he did until I got introduced to digital tablets! Since I was 15 I have been committing my time to improve my digital skills by studying anatomy, background work and watching tutorials online.

After I studied pencil art following an old master's instruction for a year or so, I found myself to enjoy the feeling of creating each and every stroke (that is, if I'm not stuck in an artist block of course). Thus, I decided to pursue a career in the creative and entertainment industry.

1994. The release of “The Lion King” brought my whole family to the theater. When the movie ended I was amazed by how a moving drawing could bring such emotional charge and life experience to the audience. I looked at my mom and told her that I wanted to do that for my life. I was 9 years old.

It was actually quite late. I always knew that I want to do something that relates to art and design, but I just never thought about animation. Before I start learning it, I always heard that it is something really hard and not for everyone. I mean those rumor were right, but I fell in love with it once I picked it up when I started my study in animation at Emily Carr University.

When I was a kid I always liked to draw

I have loved drawing ever since I was a kid, but the realization of wanting to work in 3d industries came to me when I was astounded by how affective the game CG could be and the way that 3d arts could bring me into a fantasy world.

Since I was a kid. I have always felt drawn to Art. Traditional and Digital, now going full force towards 3D Character Designer and Animation.

Interests in animation, gaming and entertainment in general

When I saw Spirited Away, I knew I wanted to make my own animated films/projects.

I loved art but never saw it as a career option. I come from a science background and worked hard at it, I wasn't very good at it but I kept trying and trying. One day I feel sick with bronchitis, sinus infection and asthma at the same time and was hospitalised. During my three day stay in the hospital I received creative dreams and visions from God. I had no paper or pen to draw for those three days and felt like dying being unable to draw. I knew immediately that I needed to draw to survive.

I realised I want to work in the industry in high school
