Round of applause for our sponsors

Growing up, I had always been surrounded by videogames. I would watch my parents play the original Final Fantasy games on the Playstation, jumping around the living room pretending to be Cloud fighting his enemies. I found my love for games in general at an early age and it is the main reason I chose to study within the games industry. I enjoy playing the Soulsborne and Elden Ring series as well as the Borderlands and Destiny games. Weapon art for games is my key interest.

I always loved traditional art and games. When playing games I always found myself spending most of the time looking around and being amazed at the details in the various worlds. I realised I would love to be apart of creating these worlds and was ecstatic when starting a degree in Game Art. It gave me the opportunity to develop my passion and expand my knowledge of the whole game development process mainly focusing on environments.

I've just finished my final year of Game Art at University, in which I gained an interested in Virtual Fashion and 3D garments. I've been interested in art since I was very young, being surrounded in my house by music and paintings. I felt the future for creative industries lied in video games and film, so that's where I hope to end up!

In my first year of college back in 2017, I realised all I wanted to do was create 3D artwork.

I've always been a daydreamer since I was a kid, I loved Nintendo's video games and decided I would like to create games from my own mind - I mainly wanted to get into the art side of the gaming industry so went down the concept art route.

I was a daydreamer growing up. I would go to a nearby creek with my toys to act out those daydreams, I would draw the characters, anything to interact with my made-up world. I've always wanted to share my stories with the world and my love for video games compelled me to pursue a career in Game Art. I love that players can interact with the world and its characters in a way that books and movies wouldn't allow them. Like being back in that creek with a handful of toys and a wild imagination.

Growing up I was always interested in characters ever since I started playing games. Their design, personality and their class in-game always intrigued me. How people can design such recognisable characters like Sonic, Cloud Strife or Mario, is incredible to me. In the beginning and even now I still draw characters and make my own every now and then, but after being introduced to ZBrush and 3D modeling, a spark ignited in me. I've just been wanted to learn more about it since.

I've wanted to work in the games industry since I was in secondary school. I was keen to work as an artist and make games however it wasn't until years later that I realised I could actually do it and it wasn't an industry that is closed off and impossible to get into. I wanted to create games that people would be able to enjoy, explore and hopefully inspire others to follow in the path I took, just as I was. I wanted to create games and game worlds that I can say I made.

I always had a big interest for game and began to make my own 2D textures for my own characters. I eventually got into 3D in secondary school and slowly created my own props which has lead me wanting to become an environment artist.

Despite loving everything about games growing up, I never realised until I was around seventeen that I could also take part in making games. As I was thinking about what sort of career I wanted to do, it was like a light-bulb moment, and after that I have not looked back.

I've been involved in creative media one way or another throughout my working life. At first working as a portrait photographer and later as a figurative sculptor in ceramics and bronzeware. I have a little experience working in props on an independent film feature, also. I became a game art undergraduate to engage primarily in 3D art, which is where I first became interested in working in the games industry.

Since I could remember I've always wanted to create. Drawing was my introduction to art and become my passion as a child. Experimenting with different medias, whether it be drawing, painting, sculpting, I found an interest in 3D modelling at the end of my Sixth Form studies. What made me realise my love for 3D modelling was within video games. I've always wanted to create something that I and others can interact with.
