When I was 21, After seeing the massive leap forward in how Unreal production and Virtual Production has the potential to change the entire filming landscape forward, I wanted to be apart of it and participate in the creation of art and entertainment .

I've always had an interest in art and animation but when I was applying for post-secondary in high school, I realized I really wanted to work in the animation/film industry.

When I first watched The Lion King.

After watching animated films of Satoshi Con I became interested in animation as a storytelling medium and decided to pursue art career seriously.

Chris Shangqing Yan is a CG artist who specializes in texturing, lighting, and compositing. He also has strong graphic design skills in user interface design and branding with Adobe Suite. He worked as an industrial designer in Canada, and recently graduated from the Computer Animation program at Sheridan College. With the background in design and animation, Chris often adds design thinking in his CG work. Chris is able to communicate with his clients and colleagues in English and Chinese.

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts was the first time I was able to define different concepts and ideas through multimedia process. at University I avidly worked with different technology and computer programs including 3D software, video editing software, image editing software and audio editing software.These experiences with different mediums and programs ignited in me an interest towards using technology, specifically computer generated 3D technology to connect with people.

Since I worked as a compositor in a VFX studio.

I dropped out of architecture school in 2013. I knew I was a creative at heart, but the rigidness of my architectural schooling took a toll on me. When I discovered the world of game design, I fell in love with the rapid creative process and the challenges of working in tight-knit teams. Ever since then, I've been constantly trying to find interesting ways to design experiences with emerging technologies and new interactions.

Being exposed to games such as Halo and Pokemon, gave me an introduction to how powerful games are as a medium. As a designer, I enjoy crafting worlds/visceral interactive experiences that encourage player curiosity and exploration.

Both my parents are watercolor artists so I've been always interested in working in the creative industry.

I have always been interested in storytelling and animation, I have been doing it since I first knew about them. Through my Animation Engineering bachelor's and Computer Animation program, I learned the tools used in the animation industry, and I was able to strengthen my abilities in order to become a better storyteller.

I have always been drawn to the wonderous would of animation. Like every other young artist i grew up watching animated fils and longed to one day be apart of the process of animated feature films that will inspire the young artists to come.

I first realized that this industry was for me when I began blending my interests in art and technology as a teenager. My passion for music, movies, video games, and sports all guided me to disciplines in which I could express my love for entertainment, whether through graphic design, animation, or other creative endeavors.

I was 13 when I started making games. I did it because a friend of mine who drew comics wanted to make a game and I couldn't draw, so I learned how to program in GameMaker. We spent most of our time in school dreaming and sketching ideas on our notebooks, none of which I ever actually finished :(

I've always wanted to work in the entertainment industry, but didn't know what facet I wanted to do. During my degree, I recognized that I wanted to focus on Character Art.

When I first experienced 3D at one of the classes at school.

I always wanted to work in games, since I played them a ton.

After my personal project premiere at a film festival, I realized that the best reward to an artist is to see the reaction of the audience. That is why I have crazy passion of making impactful shots and sharing my works with others.

I've been dreaming of creating characters and making them come to life ever since i was little. Naturally, the Disney and Hanna-Barbera animations were the first to drag me in this world of animated movies. These artistic productions provided me with inspiration for my very own stories.

This was my childhood dream but since I was not able to do anything in my back home( Iran) . When I came to Canada I found a way to follow my dreams.

Whenever I started watching the “making of” of every movie I had. Seemed so inspiring and opened a whole new world of opportunities for me cause I didn’t know one thing about how they created those magical pieces of art and thought “hmm, I really want to be a part of this”.
