MYKOS - A Visual Development Story

MYKOS 

A visual development project about a human colony trying to survive in a desolate and harsh planet. Our protagonist, Sarah is one of the many, many gatherers risking life and limb to sustain the population in the ark.

The inspiration of Sarah mainly comes from strong female protagonists such as Ripley and Sarah Connor. With the thought of a harsh, unforgiving world in mind, Sarah's design have to show that she can survive in this world, while still maintaining that vigor to grind forward.

She is also equipped with a trusty mechanical arm that helps her in gathering, as well as defending against potential predators. The technology level is bare, as most gatherers are forced into the life out of poverty.

Carriers are commonly used as a form of transportation for the gatherers. The light carrier class supports up to 4 people, and is able to load a considerable amount of resources. It is widely used because of its affordability and versatility.

The F07 is a repurposed combat carrier, stripped of its weapons, and now its sole purpose is to aid Sarah in her day to day gathering. She found it in the junkyard, she fixed it and now it flies, what more can she expect?

Mykos ecosystem is harsh, yet fascinating at the same time. Acid rain rolls in daily and sweep the surface of the planet. Thus the ecology evolves, and now giant fungi caps cover the world below from the deadly rain. Flora and fauna starts to thrive under the fungi caps, and is the only part of the planet where life can grow.

However, the cover of the caps slowly turn the ecosystem into one that thrives in the dark. Its fungi forest is filled with deadly dangerous predators that have evolved to hunt in the dark. The gatherers have to risk their life everyday to forage these forest for food and water, while deadly predators roam.
