This is a character concept I developed that I then translated to 3D and carried through the production pipeline. My objective was to design a detailed concept sheet that would translate well to 3D and speak for itself.

Her name is Ravenbliss, an elite mercenary for CLARENT. She originally started out as a re-design of an older character of mine, but I wanted to explore more complex hard surface designs with her and so I decided to make her into her own character after straying from the original design.

I wanted to be as through as possible with my concept sheet, so I included a lot of orthographic views of the props, armor, weapons, and the helmet. I constructed the helmet with layers that parallel how I would then build it in 3D.

The small scale spaceship  was meant to serve as a "pedestal" on top of which Ravenbliss would stand in the final scene. Designing the ship was particularly challenging because I had to keep the focus on the character; I couldn't make the ship big to the point where it would draw attention away from the character but I couldn't make it too small either because it wouldn't make logical sense and wouldn't fit a human inside. My solution for this problem was to change the orientation of the cockpit to a horizontal layout, so she would lay down instead of sit straight. This allowed me to maximize the space in the ship and keep its overall scale small.

Additionally I made a callout sheet ro be used when texturing the character.

3D turnaround of the final scene.

Wireframes and texture maps. Even though this is purely a concept piece and she is not meant to be used in a game, I still made sure to have production-ready topology and optimized UV space as an exercise for myself.
