GUILLO Loris - 3D environment and props 2024

by Arvak on 16 May 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

Hello everyone! Here is a selection of my works done at Artside School and some personal projects done in my free time. I hope those projects will show the skills I learned during this formation.

Alchemist’s Lab

Concept by Natcha Ngamtweerat

This is a 4 months solo project. It was a huge challenge for me to build and create all these assets on my own. It allowed me to learn how to manage my time, to practice several technologie such as vertex paint, parallax occlusion mapping, and to optimize my UE materials and my assets.

This exercise was very instructive and I will reiterate it, with less mistakes in the future!

I first proceeded to build a blocking on Blender and import it in UE5, and after finding the correct proportions and camera angles, I started the asset production.

Modeling in Blender, sculpt in Zbrush, bake in Marmoset and texturing in Substance painter.

And the tileable texture of walls and floor were done on Substance Designer.

Thanks to all my classmates and teaching team for their feedback !

Foliage

Lessons with Arnaud Claudet

This is a 2 week lesson where we had to create a small foliage scene with constraints.

I had to make a temperate broadleaf forest with an alien style.

All this vegetation was created with Speedtree and Substance Designer, and rendered in UE5. (Rocks are Megascans because the main focus was the vegetation). It was by far one of the most interesting lessons we had, I have learned a lot of things about vegetation scattering, production and rendering.

Jagdpanther

This is my last year final project.

We had 1 month to create a diorama and we were free to choose whatever we wanted.

I chose an uchronia of a Jagdpanther in Normandy 1946, equipped with FG 1250 night vision device and some oxide primer plate, hunting in a small village in ruins.

It was a real challenge to do everything in such a short time. I’ve done everything myself and from scratch in the scene. It was the first time I used Runtime Virtual Texture and it was really fun and useful to set up !

Flügel der Freiheit

Flügel der Freiheit is a personal project done on my free time.

It will take place in Netherland september 1944, during WW2, operation Market Garden.

My goal is to create a big pool of historically accurate assets in order to make several dioramas, and if I manage to, create some gameplay around it.

All those assets were modeled in Blender, sculpted (when necessary) in Zbrush, baked in Marmoset and rendered in UE5.

I’m still working on getting a better quality of modeling/texturing and I hope it will like it !

Thank you for your time and attention !
