Motion Reel

A collection of the work that I am most proud of! A great introduction before diving deeper into some of my favourite projects. Music by Jose Gonzales, "Step Out".

We Can Take Our Time

Senior Thesis

Life is a series of thousands of little miracles. We can take our time.

This passion project was created during my final semester at Ringling College of Art and Design. Inspired by the poem "The Orange" by Wendy Cope, this story is about celebrating the everyday moments in life and appreciating the beauty all around us.  I combined all of the skills that I have learned throughout my 4 years to create a beautiful and thought provoking piece. Music and sound design thank you to Kelly Warner.

I sourced a few 3d interior models for the first shot from Dimensiva and the plants from Quixel Megascans. All other textures and assets were created by my own hand in Cinema 4D and Redshift. Composited in both After Effects and Nuke.

A City Made of Glass

Growing up in London I was always mesmerized by the intricacy of the architecture in the city. The contrast of the older Victorian buildings alongside the modern day skyscrapers fascinated me. To this day I still love taking morning walks around the city, as the sun is reaching its peak, and reflecting off all the glass buildings in a beautiful and elegant way. I was inspired to create a title sequence for a made up documentary that celebrates the rich history of glass architecture in London. This sequence celebrates the wonder of the city and how we feel more connected to one another because of the glass architecture.

I was responsible for all aspects of pre production and production of this project, using Cinema 4D and Octane. All design and animation is my own, as well as the lighting, texturing, rendering and finishing. Most of the models are my own, however due to the 2 week time constraint I downloaded the Big Ben model, London Underground model, and House models, with rights. I remeshed those models to fix the topology and then textured and lit them. Finally, I composited the project in After Effects, which is where I also designed the typography.

Be Curious

Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the Universe exist. Be curious.

In this short piece I tried to capture the feeling of wonder during childhood. By visualizing a quote for the largest online collection of quotes, I brought a quote to life through animation.

I chose the quote “Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.” - Stephen Hawking. This quote feels personal to me as it reminds me about how magical my childhood felt, finding beauty in everything around me. With this piece I wanted to challenge the audience to question what they see, and guide them on an exploratory journey, which reinforces the meaning of the quote. I wanted to remind the audience of how it felt to look at the world through a child's eyes.

I focused on realism with a sense of otherworldly magic and fantasy. An important part of this project was the research phase, soap bubbles are very unique and to achieve a sense of realism required understanding the science and motion of bubbles. This would ensure more appropriate lighting, texturing and animation in production. I hope you enjoy!

I was responsible for all aspects of this project, from pre production to finishing. I designed and animated this piece in Cinema 4D with Redshift Render. It was my first time working with AOVs which I composited in After Effects along with the type.

Lanterns

One of my dreams is to attend a lantern lighting event. I was challenged with a creating an engaging welcome animation loop to be used on the large video screens at the entrance of Siggraph’s VR Theater. This was a collaborative project, but this segment was my part of the full looping animation. I wanted to create a beautiful landscape at sunset, with a focus on the lanterns. In my work I enjoy creating details, things that an audience will only catch after watching the video a few times over. I think this creates a more engaging and memorable piece because there is always something new to discover.

Each lantern holds a handwritten wish, which I camera mapped onto the lanterns, collected from my friends and family.

The iterative process

I was responsible for all aspects of this project, modeling, lighting, texturing, animating and compositing. The tree/grass geo was downloaded from Quixel Megascans but I retextured and had to arrange it all in a certain way.

Murano Oranges

Inspired by a trip to Venice where I visited the island of Murano famous for its incredible artists of glass and jewellery. They are well known for their vibrant colours, intricate designs, and delicate craftsmanship. Using Houdini I was able to achieve the design and animation, which I rendered using Redshift - to capture the magical beauty of Murano glass beads.

NIKE x Rubiks

An unexpected pairing? Perhaps. But there is more in common between these companies than meets the eye. Like the determined mindset in which both companies were founded. The motivation and drive that is at the core of both Nike and Rubiks.

Responsibilities: Corner Pin Tracking, Root, Colour Correction, Colour Grade, Modeling, Animation, Texturing, Lighting, Rendering, Principle Photography.

Threads Threads Threads

A cool Houdini exploration of weaving, referencing Alexander Eskin's node set up.

FutureProof 2024 Branding Proposal

Exploring mood, tone, and novelty in branding to create the identity and opening titles for FutureProof 2024, a Motion Design conference held at Ringling College. The dandelion seeds symbolize the transformation of each individual, and their growth into the Motion Design community. The wind blowing on the dandelion and spreading the seeds signifies our journey after Ringling, where this cycle repeats in a new chapter of our lives. As we continue on our journey, the connections that we make with others and the communities that we are a part of will always remain with us.

Emphasizing that community + connection + growth leads to breakthrough and success. And that the most important things in life are the connections we make with others.

I was responsible for all aspects of this project, from pre production through to finishing. Designed and animated in Cinema 4D, rendered in Redshift and composited in After Effects. All models are my own.

Play!

Thank you!
