“Iberians” "is a project I embarked on after finishing my degree in fine arts. During my degree, my line of work was about folklore from my country, and trying to stop it being so unknown.

When I started studying concept art at Lightbox Academy, I wanted to keep this theme leading to concept, that's how this project was born. I created a small world inspired by the afterlife of the Iberian culture.

The Unknown

One of the great mysteries of the Iberian people is their religion. I have created a goddess inspired by a mysterious woman with wolf arms from a ceramic. I  mixed her with features of other known goddesses of death and punishment.

The cultists

There are women who follow this goddess; They served her in life and now in death too. I was inspired by sculptures and winged ceramic figures.

Carnassier

It's one of the most iconic and unique creatures in this mythology: a type of griffin, that mixes feline, wolf, and bird features. It was associated with death and was your companion on the path to the other side.

Unknown's Champion

Tannit is a semi-divine warrior at the service of the goddess of death. I have given it a more timeless and fantasy look.

Hell's Gate

An essential piece for this idea to emerge is the town of Tiermes in Spain, a place that captivated me; it was celtiberian, then roman, ... It is dug into the hill, full of long tunnels to access it. So I decided that because of its history and mysterious appereance, the entrance to the afterlife should be there.

I can say that this has been my first big concept art project. I give special thanks to my teacher Jorge Ramos for teaching me everything I know about digital painting, and for putting up with me during my complaints about why oil paint is better than Photoshop.
