Beast Friends

This is a piece I'm really proud of
It's of my character Jasper, a gargoyle,  and his pet pigeon, Pebble  showcasing Jasper's new outfits and how the different ways he wears them

My main inspiration for these came from when I was looking for reference images on outfits
I came across different types of dolls and how people rearranged their outfits so I wanted to see if I could do the same, giving Jasper some regular black clothes but then a few extra pieces with a custom pattern on it and a onesie (mostly because I thought it was fun looking)

I started with the initial sketches and figured out what I wanted to draw as well as what I wanted to show
In this case I was inspired by crust pants, a type of clothing from punk fashion basically covered in patches, spikes and other things. I wanted to create an outfit centred around a pair and give it my own spin

This piece started with just a simple outfit sketch like the one below, but eventually I wanted to showcase it along with some other designs with a similar style

After the planning I went on to sketching the full piece and added a 3rd outfit to better show the mix and match theme I was trying to get with this

Once the characters were done I moved on the the background
I wanted to experiment with paper textures and wanted to create a nice and sketchy background that would compliment the outfits

After the background was done I added some extra shadow and line details
