Hello guys, here we are again for the 2024 Rookies, the 2023 edition was incredible, I was able to learn from professionals in the field following that.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Aurélien PERRAS, I am a Freelance Props Artist looking for a job in the video game industry.

Here are my personal projects for 2024.

Thanks for your viewing

Scissor lift Snorkel SL20

First of all, I present to you my first project which is the Scissor lift Snorkel SL20, it is one of the biggest projects that I have been able to carry out currently. This is my first time where I created a Vehicle, it was very enriching the Modeling aspect up to the Texture.

As a novice in this, I was able to exchange with professionals in the field, most of whom are specialized as Vehicle Artists, and I was able to come up with this project.

Then I took over this project and I was able to achieve this final blocking.

I started with Blocking but during the process, I was not satisfied with the model.

So I modified some parts to have this final model.

Also, I wanted to bring something new to this project and I wanted to put a tarplin on this Scissor.

To do this, I used Maya (I could have used Marvelous Designer but I opted for the Maya method for technical problems against my will.

I first placed a plane above the Scissor then applied an Ncloth/PAssive Collider on my Plane and the mesh which will serve as a collider.

Then I let the magic work and after a lot of modifications in the settings, I arrived at this result.

Finally to finalize my Blocking, I added Post-its/Notepads and other props to tell a story with this mesh.

Then the Sculpt stage to get my High in order to Bake all this.

Then the UV stage with the Low.

After all these steps are done, we can start the Texture.

I started with the tarplin, I started applying the base then as I added effects I arrived at this final point.

Also, to get the impression that the Scissor under the cover remained inactive for a long time, I added different superimposed dust effects to get this result.

The tarplin finished, I started the Scissor. I first started with the tires until finishing with the upper part. I used quite a few techniques during this project, techniques like Peeling Paint, rust peeling as well.

There was also a lot of work on the alphas, as I wanted the model to resemble the original model while adding personal things, I proceeded with Photoshop, I imported certain alphas from this Scissor and others that I created it personally.

Then all this applied, direction Marmoset for the final rendering.

The Next project,The Super Famicom Nintendo (SNES)

For this project, I wanted to do a project with lots of assets from the Super Famicom Nintendo (SNES).

So I proceeded to create the console, the controller, cartridges and the ScoreMAster.

The objective of this project is that like every project I create, I try to tell a story and for this one I thought about the fact that the different accessories would be put on sale.

The objective of this project is that like every project I create, I try to tell a story and for this one I thought about the fact that the different accessories would be put on sale.

So I created this mini enviro with close-ups from above with pieces of paper indicating the price of it.

Then others rendered:

Bucket Paint Project:

This project comes from the Scissor, as mentioned at the beginning during the scissor project. I made this Bucket Paint while waiting to have the ideas that I was missing for the Scissor.

This project allowed me at the time to learn techniques which later allowed me to apply them to the Scissor.

For the brushes, I was able to exchange with professionals in order to know which techniques would be the most effective and I opted for planes which were superimposed and with an opacity layer, I was able to mask the ends of the planes in order to have the final shape.

Old Wrench:

This Old Wrench was a project apart from all the other projects because I wanted to test my skills by trying to get as close as possible to the original model while adding tape to dress the mesh.

Conclusion:

To conclude, it was a great year with these different projects, I was able to explore new things in 3D and I hope that the next ones will be more and more ambitious.

I would also like to thank all the people who helped me on these different projects, I learned a lot thanks to them and I wanted to thank you for taking the time to view my different projects.

See you soon, for new projects which I hope you will like.

I would like to end with this quote which could define these projects:

.It is in ease that we fall into monotony while it is in difficulty that we observe the path taken to succeed where we fell.

Thanks you.
