3D Character Model - "Bashousen Lady"

During my experience in 3DSense Media School, we were taught the proper 3D workflow and were tasked to demonstrate our knowledge by choosing a 2D Character concept and reimagining it in 3D.

I chose a character that I felt had the right amount of challenge for me as she had a little bit of everything. From cloth, to hard armour to fur and hair, I felt that the quantity of each material was just right for me to dwell into as a beginner.

Here I share my proccess of the character: PureRef - Blocking - Detailing - Texturing - HairCards - Rendering. I also include my beauty shots, close ups, turntable and panning shots of my character.

Overall, the production of this character has been very meaningful to me as I discover how interested I am to explore 3D Hair creation and how Hard surface modelling in Maya is a total life saver. I used to also despise Zbrush because of how complicated I thought it was, but after sculpting nearly 70% of my character in the software, I can safely say that Zbrush is also my best friend. It was also very eyeopening for me to be exposed to learning more softwares in general as I got to step out of the comfort zone more. I love dwelling into the uncomfortable in the expense of learning new things! I hope to keep this habit with me coming forth my journey after 3DSense.

3D Environment Model - "The Study"

During my experience in 3DSense Media School, we were taught the proper 3D workflow and were tasked to demonstrate our knowledge by choosing a 2D Environment concept and reimagining it in 3D.

I chose a scene that gave the most potential for me to add subtle details that create storytelling. I feel that the subtle details are what allow me to stand out as an environment artist,as I get to add my own personal touch to it other than just copying straight from the reference 1:1.In this reference, I was also content with the quantity of materials I got to explore here, from book creation to cloth physics to wood testures to meteor-like rocks. There were plenty of unique props in the scene which I felt gave me quite the challenge in finishing on time. But alas, I made it regardless! This project has really challenged my time management skills and careful planning.

Here I share my process of the environment: PureRef - Blocking - Texturing - Integration in UE - Lighting
