Outdoor Temple Environment Design
The inspiration came from my love of the fantasy genre in film and television. My goal was to create something dark and ominous with a something attractive. With the assistance of both Pinterest and PureRef, I built a mood board/reference sheet to help craft the environment.
Since the sky and terrain were mainly in cool color palette, I decided to use warm colors for the visual effects, moon and crystal to draw the viewer to the ultimate goal, which is the crystal.
The rotating meshes were done with a simple Rotation Movement component attached to a Blueprint with a static mesh.
I created the temple for Game Asset Factory's Isometric Sky Temple kit on the Unreal Engine Marketplace. To lay out and place the bricks, I used Blueprints to create grids with the stone meshes.
For the sky and pink crescent moon, credit goes to Good Sky from the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
I used a mesh from the Infinity Blade Effects kit as the shape for the gemstone, while creating my own material gemstone material.
I used Unreal Engine 5's sculpting tools to form the terrain with a blended material of grass and gravel.
