Vintage Stove

During my first term at CG Spectrum I decided to participate in a 2 week mini Challenge to model and texture a Retro or Vintage inspired asset. I'm more drawn to a vintage aesthetic and so my search for the perfect thing to model started. I searched for different types of vintage kitchen appliances and a stove caught my eye! The reason being I'm from a small town in South Africa surrounded by farms so it's not uncommon to hear people reminiscing about their grandmother's wood/coal stoves!

I used Maya to model and render and Substance painter to texture. This project introduced me to the art of realistic texturing I had a lot of fun figuring out how to create the flowers! I drew them in Photoshop and used them as alphas in Substance Painter from there. My biggest challenge during this project was figuring out how to not only do realistic textures but to model without the guidance of a tutorial! Turns out it's a lot more fun without tutorials!
