Talsund and Xirge
The process of designing two dragons.
Hi, my name is Brie. I am a third year student studying the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Effects and Entertainment Design) at Flinders University and CDW Studios. This is my second year submitting for the Rookie Awards. For this year's attempt I have designed two dragons.
The first is Talsund. The High Empress of Dragons. She is regal and calculated, but destructive if the need calls for it.
I constructed a couple different head shapes for Talsund, aiming for an air of royalty.
The first head design was chosen for Talsund. I then proceeded to design a body and apply a colour palette.
I also compiled a couple sketches to test the design with more natural poses.
The second dragon I designed was Xirge. Xirge is responsible for the permanent poisoning of an expanse of land. Xirge is violent and terrifying.
Similar to Talsund, I designed a couple head shapes before finding a suitable one.
Design 3 was chosen for Xirge. This particular dragon is enormous, lean, and sharp. I've implemented such in his body and horns.
And finally, I also sketched a couple dynamic poses of Xirge with this design.
