The impact of rheumatoid arthritis on individuals can be significant, with many experiencing chronic pain, stiffness, and fatigue. The condition can also affect their ability to work, perform daily activities and impact their mental health, leading to a lower quality of life.

Current treatment options for rheumatoid arthritis include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), and biologic therapies. However, these treatments can be costly, have side effects, and not always provide adequate relief.

In addition, many people with rheumatoid arthritis turn to assistive devices such as canes, braces, and splints, to help them perform daily tasks. However, these products can be expensive and may not always address the underlying symptoms of the condition.

Furthermore, with the current cost of living crisis in the UK, many people are struggling to afford basic necessities, let alone expensive medical treatments or assistive devices. This creates an additional barrier to accessing effective care for those living with rheumatoid arthritis.

PROCESS

The process involved extensive research into the condition and existing treatments. I carefully designed the product, considering factors like ergonomics and ease of use. After sourcing the necessary components, I built and tested multiple prototypes to ensure safety and effectiveness. It was a challenging yet rewarding journey to create a product that can significantly improve the lives of those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
