The Witch's Cat- Maggie's Character Design

While working on BYU's 2023 Film Capstone project, I had the opportunity to help design the witch, who goes by the name of Maggie. 

In the beginning of this process, Maggie went through lots of iterations. It wasn't until this sketch was done by our professor, Sam Nielson, that our Director Abby Staker Grahm green-lit the sketch. 

Once the sketch was green-lit, there were still changes and questions that needed answers to. I was tasked with doing explorations on her color palette, textures, and costume design. 

Here are some of the color and costume design exploration that was done. Her final dress was inspired by dragon scales and also ballroom dresses. We wanted the witch to be very feminine, but still also have that witchy vibe to her.
