Zoey Wei - Grooming: Sea Lions
Greetings! As a recent graduate specializing in modeling and texturing, I am excited to showcase my latest endeavor in the realm of grooming. Glad to share my grooming project with you!
Sea Lions Project
Recently, I embarked on the journey of exploring grooming techniques using Xgen. In order to augment my expertise and engage in further practice, I selected one of my models as a canvas and proceeded to bestow it with short fur. Initially, the model consisted of a solitary character. However, after receiving feedback from friends and faculty advisors, I diligently persisted in refining and enhancing the ultimate outcome.
Modeling in Zbrush and Maya, Texturing in Substance Painter, Rendering in Arnold for Maya.
Sea Lions Turntable
Upon posing two characters and establishing a preliminary scene for the final render, I proceeded to incorporate an additional wet fur shader while simultaneously creating a distinction between dry and wet fur using a mask.
Breakdown
Initially, I experimented with a single sea lion, focusing on various tasks such as posing in Zbrush for a quick review, utilizing Xgen in Maya for grooming, and employing Arnold for Maya to render the final result. This process provided me with a valuable opportunity to learn and refine my skills in grooming an entire animal body.
