Introduction to Jo Malone - Bitter Mandarin Series

Jo Malone is famous for its perfectly scented perfume. In the year 2022, they have launched the blossom collection in the summer. There are three different scented cologne under this edition, which are Bitter Mandarin, Sea Daffodil and Silk Blossom Cologne. Jo Malone plans to remind people of the sapphire-blue sea and skies, zesty breezes and sunbathed shores of the Mediterranean coast by using the scents of this Blossoms collection. The clear bottles are to represent the sea, whereas the textured caps represent sea-swept pebbles and the traditional Mediterranean.

Bitter Mandarin Cologne captures the freshness of mandarin with the bitterness of the spritz. It has a mixture of citrus and floral notes from the orris root of iris flower. There is also a hint of amber and fougere in the base adding depth to help ensure this fragrance won’t easily fizzle out.

Idea Rationale

The reason I chose this product is that I have been going for a cute style for almost my entire style treatment on my previous projects. I want to break out of that comfort zone and experiment with a different style. Therefore, for this project, I went with an elegant style. I have also been influenced by animation videos that emit a classy and premium feel which is what I want to replicate. Besides, I have always been a fan of the brand and have a few other perfumes from the brand itself. It’s safe to safe I am a loyal fan of the brand so I have a better understanding of what represents the brand. That allows me to produce a more effective outcome that is close to the brand style.

Thoughts

This is the first 3D motion I did!!!!

This project was one of the toughest yet. Sometimes my technical abilities do not allow me to recreate certain ideas I have in my head. Therefore, I spent many sleepless nights watching tutorials, consulting the lecturers, and doing some experiments on my own. Although there are still some parts that I felt could be further polished in terms of technical applications, I am still quite proud of the final outcome.
