Stanley's hardsurface Armaments collection 2023

These weapons and environments have been created by myself independently in the past six months. The weapons are game-ready assets for the game Beneath the Badlands. The environment is developed for a class in Savannah College of Art and Design and personal enjoyment. All the assets were Modeled and textured on my own.

Advanced Mobile Mecha Armaments Development Workshop

The environment is a SCIFI weapon lab that operates to develop and test weapons for giant humanoid Mech. In this scene, workers are working and testing the giant rifle. I was mainly inspired by the Hangar scene from "Gundam." I also checked a lot of Scifi & Mecha Movies as references about how to bring a sense of Scifi & Mecha into my environment.

It is a great practice for my model skills. I learned a lot about using light to create depth for my environment as well. I also learned a lot about rendering specific moods in environments with set dressing. In the early phase, people always had questions about the scale of my scene, such as they were asking how large is the rifle. My solution for that is adding some additional props as a scale reference, like the lifting car, human figure, tables, etc... It successfully solves the confusion of the scale and also strengthens the storytelling of the whole environment.

All the assets are created on my own.  Modeled in Maya 2022 and Zbrush. Textured in Adobe 3D Designer and Painter. Render in Unreal Engine 5.1.

SteamPunkCrossBow "Gorgon’s Gaze"

I independently made this Steam-powered Pistol for the game, Beneath The Badlands by Deadbolt Interactive & SCAD. Based on the Steampunk & Western Style of the game. 

This model is very challenging to me since the Crossbow is unlike other weapons, most of its structure can be saw by players, so I think the crossbow's visual needs to speak its functions to the players. And We designed two independent bow arms for the crossbow in the original concept. It is a bit challenging to do that since there are not many crossbows has two separate arms on them that I could use as reference. Also, efficiently using UV and materials is also a challenge for this weapon since it needs to be game ready. So I need to balance the visual performance and gameplay performance (FPS). The UV overlapping helps a lot to balance the visual and gameplay performance of the asset.

The Model is not using the High/Low poly model bake pipeline since the team is using Nanite in Unreal Engine 5. And there is the original concept art from the team and the Advanced detail reference I grabbed on my own.

SteamPunk Pistol "The Vigilante"


I independently made this Steam-powered Pistol for the game, Beneath The Badlands by Deadbolt Interactive & SCAD. Based on the Steampunk & Western Style of the game. I did some advanced details design based on the original concept to strengthen the sense of Steampunk and communicated with designers to ensure the functionality of the revolver was visualized correctly. 

The Model is not using the High/Low poly model bake pipeline since the team is using Nanite in Unreal Engine 5. And there is the original concept art from the team and the Advanced detail reference I grabbed on my own.
