This environment was made during a 4-week Environment Art course at Futuregames.

I started with the idea that I wanted to create a beach scene with one large central hero asset, and decided that it would also be a good idea to learn the experimental water system in Unreal Engine 5.
Using the water system I blend between three different water bodies; a small river, the shallow cove, and the ocean outside.

I wanted to try and create a scene with a large sense of scale and make the player/viewer feel small in comparison, while also giving of a calm and warm feeling.

To try and add some more points of interest to an otherwise plain beach, and to break up lines of sight I made several large corals and spread them out along mainly along the edges of the water.

1. During the first days I did a quick blockout scene and then painted over it to try and get a feel for how I wanted the scene.
2. Around halfway through the project I had most of the meshes done but I had yet to make proper textures for them. I had also started sculpting out the landscape but was still only testing the water system.

3. A high-resolution screenshot taken from Unreal the same day as I rendered the video.

The tools I used for this was Blender, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine 5.0
