Hi! I'm Lynn and I'm here to share my entry for Rookie Awards 2023. I hope you like my work!

Round of applause for our sponsors

This is my very first submission for Rookie Awards and I'm happy to share with you my work from Advanced Game Character Course at 3D3DO Studio. It is based on the concept "Uniform Armor" by Mam BA (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Lelr35). A huge thank goes to my mentor Nguyen Tran for his guidance throughout the process.

In this project I tried to capture Leon's likeness from RE2 Remake. Since this is only my second finished character, it's not absolutely perfect but it is a great opportunity to hone my skills and broaden my knowledge. I will try to improve myself in the next project.

Total polycount for this character is 106k tris.

My overall process was as follow:

1. Block out and high poly in Zbrush.

2. Clothes modeling in Marvelous Designer.

3. Retopology/Low poly/UVs/Hair cards placement in Maya.

4. Baking and texturing in Substance Painter.

5. Rendering in Marmoset Toolbag, photo editing in Photoshop.

Some close-up shots:

High Poly model in Zbrush. All facial details were hand-sculpted. Main garments were created in Marvelous Designer and polished in Zbrush.

Hair cards placement were done manually. I used Fibershop to create textures for the hair and eyebrows.

Wireframe and UVs details are shown below.

For the prop I modelled the shotgun Remington 870 Fieldmaster.

Render Passes (from left to right): Normal, Albedo, Metalness, Roughness.

Thank you for taking a look at my work!!!
