I made this character during my last year of studies. It was a very challenging project and I learned many software in order to make it like Marvelous, Wrap, Xgen or Vray.

Hi! My name is Thomas, I'm 24 i just finished my 5 year studies at Brassart Grenoble.
Andrick merchant is my graduation project for the final year in expert cycle specialized in chara modeling.

I produced this work under the supervision of my mentor Nicolas Polyte, former senior character artist at Unit Image.

Before all of that, I started from primitives  spheres on Zbrush and splited all the differents parts of the body and the face. I placed all the muscles and merged them one by one.

When the global shape was good. I worked on the details of the face.

For the finest details of the skin I worked with WRAP 3D and projected the details of a 3D scan on the body.

At least, I reworked the details using zbrush with the damstandard tool in order to add more wrinkles everywhere and give him a more stylized shape by sharpening the edges.

In the same time I worked on the staff of this wizard and others props.

I took the time to work correctly on the retopology of the body and the props. There are only two items on which I didn't touch the wireframe: the clothes exported from Marvelous Designer. My mentor adviced me to keep the wireframe from Marvelous because it fit better with the complexity of the shape of the folds.

I made the texture on Substance 3D Painter and I painted the skin manually with several layers of skin.

When I finished the skin I took the time to organize the others UV tiles.

The most complex part for me was the fur and hair because I needed to learn it from scratch.
I made the fur with Xgen Interractive Groom because one of my teacher adviced me to us it and frequently gave me his help on it.

In conclusion I'm so happy to show you this project and I'm also proud of the result. I happy because it's representing the ending of my studies and the beginning of my new career.
I hope you like it and thank you for reading this little breakdown.
