Drink Masters Title Sequence and Branding Haze Nguyen
Drink Masters is a series on Netflix with top bartenders in a competition. The show is intense, competitive and features beautiful cinematography. This title sequence takes you through the liquid abstract makeup of the winning drink. I touched on many aspects: modeling, lighting, material, editing, concept/direction
Title Sequence
Finalized designs for the title sequence were really important to lock down the story. Starting from the depths of the drink we chose to go from dark red to our branding color of orange to show the rise to the surface and set up properly for other branding assets.
Some behind the scenes from an early storyboard to introduction of lighting and simulation within C4D. There are many challenges working with glass that we tweaked constantly.
Early design exploration included getting modeling right in C4D, but we heavily revised the color to align with the elite and expensive feeling of cocktails.
Branding Toolkit
A big component besides the orange color of the rebrand is the bubble and glass effect. Since there is warping and transparency by using a bubble, one of the challenges I faced making these branding deliverables was keeping legibility. I worked with layering to increase light reflections, and added a subtle drop shadow to keep the type focused.
