Animation Demo Reel 2023

Here's my most recent demo reel. This includes animation from both personal work and school work spanning the last two years, the most recent project being less than a month old. 

The main struggle with this project was figuring out a way to turn aesthetic art into an integrated piece of animation. Up until this point I have not had much experience merging illustration with animation. The colors changed quite a bit compared to its original conception, and I am happy with the final product. I feel like the aftereffects touch at the end is just what it needed!

I really liked the rough feel of the left image. As someone who struggles with perfectionism it was a challenge allowing myself to let the rougher elements to shine through whilst still keeping a polished final look. In the end I wish I had kept more of the rougher charm that the first image has.

This was simultaneously my favorite and least favorite process out of any animation so far. It started out as a body mechanic exercise that I later recycled and polished for an animation competition. This taught me that I hate clean up!! But at the same time, seeing it come together was incredibly rewarding! This ended up winning honorable mention for the 2023 animation dance party competition.
