Hello ! I present to you my 2 years progression from my final work of my first year of study at ESMA to my last work made during my third year. Hope you enjoy !

ASTRONAUT'S VAN

This was my first big project. My purpose was to make the Airstream camper of an old woman who used to be an astronaut. She travels through american deserts to find quiet and peacefull places to contemplate the stars.

THE FROZEN BEE

This bee has a very special place in my heart, she was my first attempt creating a scenographic image with a character.

She is a Megachile campanulae, a very little bee with white fur.

For this project, i touched for the first time Xgen in order to do the fur, i realy appreciated it even if it was a little bit complicated to manage at first. Then i rigged her with the fur and give her a pose. To add a dramatic effect i added a Mash of frozen crystals on the stick and the bee. It sets up in the morning sun which is rising on the dew.

THE LION

This project was very enlightening, I choose a very known animal and that was make or break, because everyone would recognize small mistakes about it. But i took the challenge and that was very fun to make.

First I searched for every anatomic references I could find to make the most accurate sculpt i could do.

Then I added an Xgen pass to check how the fur react to the sculpt.

I shaded it with Marschner Hair, textured it by hand in substance, and reworked, reworked, and reworked the fur until I had one that pleased me, and done !

In theory it's that but it wasn't that straight forward and took me long time to achieve.

For the frown, i sculpted a blendshape and made the fur follow the model.

THE SATELLITE DISH HUT

That project conclued my second year and is one of my favorite. The purpose was to make a cabin and make 3 shot of it, one close up, one with an animated camera and one as we wanted.

I wanted for a long time to make a post-apocalyptic environnement so i took the chance and made a cabin inside an old and rusty satellite dish in the desert. The character living inside runs a amateur radio to who wants to listen (and who is still alive to listen). He is using the height of the antenna to put his radio antenna to have more coverage.

It was my first time batching and using render layers and it was very instructive, i learned a lot during these months of works!

THE GUITARIST'S HAND

For this project, we had to make a photorealistic hand. At first the photogrammetry seemed to be the best option, but making hundreds of photos of a hand without moving it is very very challenging and none of them worked. So i modeled it and sculpted it in the traditionnal way by using lots of references from my own hand and others.

Once i had a sculpt that pleased me, i shaded it and textured it with a canva i made from photos of my own hand but a little bit modified to look older. Then I rigged it and placed it holding a plectrum. I corrected the placement with blendshapes, put it over a guitar i modeled for the occasion and i was manly satisfied with the result. Except for some details that with perspective would have been a little bit better, for example the specular of the hair.

THE LOST ASTRONAUT

Regarding this project i wanted to learn a new software, Marvelous. I started by taking a basic humain, modified him as i wanted and imported it in Marvelous. I then took lots of references from 2 on board suits, one is the ACES suit from the Americans and the other is the Sokol suit from Russia (the helmet is more based on the ACES helmet). I mixed the 2 suits to make a new one that i liked. And then i rigged the human underneath, and made the suit following it and import the result in maya.

For the environnement, i wanted to put the astronaut alone in a destroyed ship. I modeled the panel following american and russian control panel references.

I encounter an issue using Marvelous, it's making the harness because of the penetrations that happens all the time. I had to be very carefull interacting with the garment because the belt and the harness would ended up inside the suit.
